EV Technician Program

The whole FairFix EV technician program, from first principles to master diagnostics, taught in our workshop in Addis Ababa. Most of the time is hands-on work on real electric vehicles. It covers EV fundamentals, electrical and high-voltage systems; EV battery, BMS, power electronics and motor systems; and EV diagnostics, software and master diagnostic engineering.

What you'll learn

Explain what an EV is and name the parts it removes, adds and keeps versus a petrol car
Identify each HV component by sight and inspect its label, connectors, bonding and enclosure
Calculate pack voltage, capacity and per-cell current from its series-parallel layout
Plan pack removal and opening: bench earth, re-verify, covers on, busbars from the high end
Identify the five OBC stages, the unit's layout and how its ratings set AC charging behaviour
Identify a car's powertrain layout and the stages of its chain from pack to wheels
Diagnose a weak 12 V supply behind HV codes by load testing at key-on before any HV work
Plan how to find, reproduce on demand or trap the condition behind an intermittent fault
Identify the capstone components, prerequisites and pass criteria, including the safety gate
